Saharan dust has made its way to Florida. This particulate matter originates from the Sahara Desert in Africa and typically travels to several parts of the world.
Everyone is advised to practice precaution, as the dust is made up of tiny particles that can irritate your eyes, nose and throat, creating allergy-like symptoms. The change in the air is more likely to be felt by people who have asthma.
Aside from health concerns, Saharan dust also leads to hotter temperatures, limits the chances of rain and affects air quality. Make sure to check the Air Quality Index before going out.
