No lie: This cherry pie cocktail is tasty

George Washington not only couldn’t tell a lie, he couldn’t say no to a glass of fine spirits now and then. General Washington always made sure his troops had a nip or two on the battlefield.

To honor the birthdays of our nation’s founding fathers and that cherry tree, try this cherry pie cocktail:

• 1 1/2 ounces vodka.

• 1 1/2 ounces amaretto.

• 1 1/2 ounces grenadine.

Pour these ingredients into a cocktail shaker with lots of ice and shake until well-mixed. Pour into tall glass with more ice and top with club soda. Garnish with cherries.
