Independence comes at price of mental health for veterans

by

Our military servicemen and women defend our country so we can live in a nation that honors our rights. While we celebrate our independence, we should remember the price they paid for freedom.

Far too many suffer from the trauma of war and experience post-traumatic stress, traumatic brain injury, anxiety and depression. They struggle with addiction, employment and housing – and their relationships are strained. Some end up in jail.

One of our partners, Wounded Warriors of Collier County, is honoring their service by improving access to veteran mental health services and providing transitional housing to those in veterans court.
