DLC, Collier County and the Sheriff’s Office received a matching grant from the Florida Department of Children and Families that will ensure inmates in the Naples Jail can receive life-saving medications to fight opioid addiction.
The three-year grant and match will provide $2.4 million to purchase medications and hire treatment providers — ensuring inmates already on the medication when arrested can continue while incarcerated.
MAT, which normalizes brain chemistry and blocks the euphoric effects of opioids, prevents inmates from detoxing in jail and improves treatment outcomes.
MAT, combined with counseling and recovery support, is the gold standard for treating opioid addiction.
