Feb. 11 would have been Thomas Edison’s 173rd birthday. He is widely regarded as one of America’s most prolific inventors, with 1,093 United States patents to his name.
As a child, I can remember touring the Edison Ford Winter Estates in Fort Myers and learning how many inventions Edison had that didn’t work. He didn’t consider them failures though, they simply confirmed that a particular method did not work in his pursuit to solve problems.
As you flick the light switch on at your home during Edison’s birthday, take a moment to appreciate his brilliant perspective and persistence to create.
