Do you know how to maximize your shutter speed, lighting or filters? Often, people trying to learn photography focus on the technical side of the camera, with lackluster results.

One of the best photography lessons I had came from internationally recognized photographer Jordan Matter. In a lesson, we focused on the composition of the photos.

His best tip? Tell a story with your photo.

That one tip shifted how I compose photos, whether I am shooting my dancing daughter, a lady bug on a purse, future leaders or wolf-dogs. It has also shifted the way that I see the world.
