As environmentally concerned families start decorating for the holidays, they might ask themselves: Which is better for the planet, a real tree or a fake one?
The simple answer is a real tree. Ultimately though, it depends on a variety of factors, including how far you drive to get the tree and how you dispose of it.
An artificial tree needs to be reused for at least 15 to 20 years to make it an eco-friendlier choice. If you’re opting for a fake tree, buy one with a “Made In USA” label. If you’re buying a real tree, go local.
