Many people recognize when someone’s behavior changes but don’t know how to help. Mental Health First Aid teaches the community – teachers, family, co-workers, neighbors – to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illness on a first-aid basis.
As a newly certified Youth Mental Health First Aid Trainer, Ariella VanHara, David Lawrence Center’s emergency services clinical supervisor, is applying her expertise and passion for helping others by providing this life-saving information to the community.
VanHara is holding a training later this month that’s exclusively for Collier teachers and officers and covers how to help during a crisis.
