Established in 1968 by a handful of concerned citizens and Polly Keller’s vision, David Lawrence Center (DLC) answered a great need. Today, it continues to stand as a pillar of hope for those in the community struggling with mental health and addiction.
Keller, a psychiatrist’s daughter, developed empathy and compassion for her father’s patients — and after garnering support from the state and schools, DLC opened on Oct. 10, 1969, with three staff, including Naples’ first psychiatrist.
One woman’s passion and a community that came together have paved the way to 50 years, and together, we can keep the dream alive.
