Raising money for businesses, creative pursuits and nonprofit causes has become easier with crowdfunding platforms such as Indiegogo and Patreon. Investopedia reports more than $34 billion has been raised worldwide.

And, crowdfunding is making the world of real estate investing more accessible. For as little as $5,000, investors can buy into a property as a shareholder, earning a portion of the profits generated.

Over the past 18 months, Millionacres Mogul (a Motley Fool service) has recommended over 40 deals to its members, ranging from a 17-story office building in St. Petersburg to a 213,500-square-foot R&D campus in Silicon Valley.
