Ask the Curator: Do you copy?

June 26, 2019 @ 7:30 am - 8:00 am EDT

Join Collections Registrar, Matt Andres, for a discussion on Edison’s earliest inventions, the electric pen. In this discussion, Matt will cover the features of the electric pen and what this invention was commonly used for and its purpose. This was the very first product with an electrical motor that was sold to the public. However, within five years of its debut, the electric pen business was in serious decline. Also, in this presentation, we will discuss how the electric pen evolved over the years and view the Estates’ electric pen on display, one of forty six that still exist today.
