In the summer of 2017, my daughter and I backpacked into the Grand Canyon. After months of training, we hiked down the steep terrain, loaded down with backpacks and camping gear.
We still laugh about the crazy squirrels and novice mistakes we made on the adventure of a lifetime.
This past holiday, we took a trip to Lovers Key State Park and found ourselves on one of Lee County’s highest points – a 30-foot mound on the Black Island Trail.
Florida trails don’t offer the same extremes as the Grand Canyon, but we still appreciate the beauty of the journey.
