Experience art with your children this summer

by The 100 Companies

Last summer, my daughter changed the way that I experienced visual arts. One of her dance instructors walked the class through an exercise to learn how to both experience and appreciate art.

He felt that “like” and “don’t like” pieces was dismissive of the nuances of the art. To truly experience the artwork, he advised to mindfully ask yourself:

What is the first thing you notice?

What color stands out?

Where is there movement?

How does the work make you feel?

What is the story behind the piece?

This summer, take advantage of The Baker Museum’s free admission every Sunday.
