If there is one thing I’ve learned in my many years of connecting with thousands of community members, it’s that people want to know the truth. And contrary to that famous line in the movie “A Few Good Men,” people can handle the truth.
Truth doesn’t have to be hidden or hurt. It can almost always be cloaked in kindness, compassion, humility and a little grace.
The next time you find yourself struggling with what to say to a customer, client, colleague or to a confidant, try the truth. Tell it like it is, and the truth is, they’ll understand.
