The legacy of the law in Collier County

by
sheriff

Collier County may be almost a century old, but only seven sheriffs have served as lead law enforcement officer in the county since its creation in 1923.

This legacy of long-serving, dedicated sheriffs has given Collier County a continuity of leadership that has helped keep the community safe. While the first sheriff, W.R. Maynard, served just a few years before resigning, subsequent sheriffs remained until retirement or their passing, some serving more than 20 years in office.

Collier’s seventh sheriff, Kevin Rambosk, was elected in 2008 and re-elected to additional four-year terms in 2012 and 2016.
