Hendry County just received $436,334 for rural business development. United States Department of Agriculture Rural Development awarded the Hendry County School District the grant for their rural small electric and air conditioning training program.

The investment will provide training through the Clewiston Adult School for ongoing education and certifications for electricians, HVAC and solar technicians. Thirty students will be trained annually to enable small businesses to grow their skilled workforce.

Hendry County is part of the Southwest Florida Promise Zone and the FutureMakers Coalition, which is working to increase the number of residents with degrees, certificates and high-quality credentials.
