SWFL area’s architecture has long been known for its Mediterranean-inspired look, but a design trend shift is taking place throughout the region.
Naples architect David Corban believes the shift from the ornate Mediterranean revival style to a more coastal or traditional design started in 2008. Developers and business owners that were able to build new facilities during and after the recession looked to make their buildings stand apart from pre-recession structures and adopted forward-thinking styles.
Corban believes we will see a continued change in local design trends towards a much more contemporary look as commercial spaces evolve.
