The Peace River Wildlife Center offers a place of hope, compassion and rehabilitation to injured animals in SWFL.
One of their rescues has been living at the center since 1996. As a young and curious eagle, Bilfred punctured an aerosol can with her beak, causing it to explode. The injury to her wing was severe and eventually had to be amputated.
At the time, the center didn’t have a suitable habitat for the eagle’s care. Through the generous donation of $5,000 from an anonymous donor, the center built a habitat in memory of the donor’s deceased husband, named Bilfred.
