Don’t spoil your next hike by making these mistakes:
1. Not taking enough water – the top mistake novice hikers make and potentially the most dangerous.
2. Not considering the weather conditions. What is the predicted weather? Will you get back before dark?
3. Not paying attention to elevation changes and difficulty of the trail. We love the AllTrails app, which shares the topography and rates the trails.
4. Not having a way to communicate in case of emergency. Take a charged smartphone, or if there won’t be service, let someone know where you will be.
5. Not wearing the proper footwear. Wear good quality shoes.
