Marco Island Center for the Arts will host a reception to formally close the Friendship 7 Time Capsule July 21 at 5:30 p.m.
In a campaign that began in 2020, committee members have been collecting digital stories and works of art that show the strength and spirit of Marco Island.
The event pays tribute to the groundbreaking Friendship 7 mission and the Apollo 11 moon landing. Space enthusiasts, artists and community members are encouraged to bring memorabilia and share in the collective experience of honoring the past, celebrating the present and inspiring future generations to reach for the stars.
