If you have been thinking about planting some vegetables, or maybe creating your own food forest, fall is the time to start planting! When the Edison family began wintering in Fort Myers in 1885, Mr. Edison planned extensive truck gardens with various fruits that the family could enjoy during their time at Seminole Lodge. Today, Edison Ford horticulturists continue the Edison’s tradition by growing edibles from seed that are not treated with any pesticides, sold in the Garden Shoppe. Advance registration is required and limited to 25 participants. The classes are held in a climate-controlled and accessible classroom at the Fort Myers-Lee County Garden Council and Berne Davis Gardens, located across the street from the Edison Ford parking lot. At the conclusion of each class, each participant will receive a 20% discount coupon for plant purchases in the Garden Shoppe. Register online at edisonford.org.
