Corkscrew After Hours: Owls in Florida’s Ecosystems

November 8, 2019 @ 5:30 pm - 9:00 pm EST

Experience the Corkscrew boardwalk at night, and participate in educational programs and exhibits about Florida owls, during Corkscrew’s After Hours event when the Sanctuary stays open until 9 pm.

Florida owls are often thought of as the “night shift” avian predators, but many are active in the day as well. How wise are owls and how do they hunt at night? Come join us to learn about these fascinating birds of prey, their behavior and the threats they face.

• 5:30 – 6:30: “The Diversity, Adaptations, and Conservation of Owls in Florida Ecosystems” presented by Dr. Jerry Jackson
• 6:30 – 8:30: Night Adaptations Stations – learn what enables nocturnal animals to thrive at night and participate in night vision experiments
• Live music by Robbie Wooster, Karen Batten, Scott Ritter and Rich Baker
• Eat, drink and enjoy art exhibits in the Gallery Cafe

Bring a flashlight and we will provide red cellophane to cover the lens, or if you have a red-light flashlight, even better!

Adult admission is $14 and is valid for two consecutive days, including the day of the event. Free for ages 18 and under, and for Friends of Corkscrew members.
