Seventy years ago, brave voices in the Southwest Florida community spoke up to protect ancient trees from the threat of the axe and saw. Thanks to their efforts, Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary now protects 13,000-plus acres in Southwest Florida as a haven for plants, animals and people.
Audubon invites the community to celebrate World Wetlands Day on Friday, Feb. 2, from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. The event includes guided tours on the boardwalk and in the backcountry, interpretive stations, guided forest meditation, the unveiling of a new photography exhibit, lectures for adults and a book signing and storytelling for children.
