We celebrated my brother-in-law’s retirement after 24 years in the United States Marine Corps. Chief Warrant Officer Brian DeMello’s career has taken him around the world, including three tours in Iraq and multiple floats with the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit.
DeMello asked that the retirement officer focus on the three best parts of his career: his wife, daughter and son. Without his family supporting him through care packages, dance recitals and soccer games, he couldn’t have made it.
His sentiment was a beautiful reminder that it doesn’t matter what role you serve, you are the world to someone.
