The Greater Naples YMCA will host a lifeguard certification course June 19-21 for ages 16 and up.
Lifeguards are especially needed in SWFL in summer. Accidental drownings are the leading cause of death among infants and small children in Florida and, according to the U.S. Lifesaving Association, drownings that occur under lifeguard supervision account for less than 1% per year. “Lifeguard trainings are essential to our community. Safety is always our top priority, and equipping guards with the proper training can help save lives,” said YMCA Aquatics Director Jeremiah Villasante.
Course graduates earn lifeguard, CPR, and first aid certifications.
