Waste Management expands CNG fleet in SWFL

Waste Management has launched its first waste and recycling collection trucks in Charlotte County powered by compressed natural gas (CNG). Through the Charlotte and Collier County fleets, SWFL continues to benefit from Waste Management’s investment in the largest “clean” energy fleet in the state.

For each diesel truck replaced by a CNG-powered vehicle, Waste Management reduces consumption of diesel by 8,000 gallons per year, which cuts greenhouse gas emissions by 14 metric tons. Vehicles powered by CNG emit 86 percent less emissions and are far quieter in residential neighborhoods than diesel trucks. They also reduce overall fuel expenses.
