At the suggestion of Amanda Beights, I recently watched “The Game Changer,” a documentary about athletes living plant-based lifestyles. Ever since my daughter became a vegan athlete, this lifestyle has interested me.
The documentary follows former UFC fighter James Wilks, who was recovering from an injury and researching the best nutritional plan for healing faster. In multiple experiments, he documents increased performance, stamina and recovery potential for plant-based athletes.
Perhaps the most striking story was when New York City firefighters were challenged with a weeklong plant-based diet. The average drop in cholesterol for the group was 100 points per person.
