If the Conservation Collier Referendum passes, taxes to fund the program will be collected for a period of 10 years.
According to ConservationCollier.com, the funds will be allocated as follows:
• Acquiring preserve land– 65-75%.
• Add public amenities such as boardwalks, facilities, and programs– up to 10%.
• Ongoing management and maintenance of preserved land– 25%.
A portion of the management funds will be placed in a trust fund, which will generate additional income from the interest earned. Proceeds from the trust will allow the program to operate in perpetuity, using only taxes collected during the period authorized by the referendum.
