Store your hurricane stash safely

It happens often: A hurricane threat motivates us to buy cases of bottled water, and when we are lucky and the storm skirts us, we are left to stash the water for the next storm crisis or even next year’s hurricane season.

While it might seem that bottled water would remain palatable forever, it does have an expiration date and should be stored properly. Experts say that water can absorb chemicals through the plastic bottling.

Store bottled water up off cement flooring so that the toxic chemicals in concrete do not leach through the plastic bottles and contaminate your water.
