Actor turned mental health advocate Sean Astin – best known for his beloved characters in “Stranger Things,” “Lord of the Rings,” “Rudy” and “The Goonies” – will shed light on the “Changing Face of Mental Health” as keynote speaker for David Lawrence Centers for Behavioral Health’s Sound Minds™ fundraiser on March 5 at 12 p.m.
Astin will discuss his late mother, famous actress Patty Duke and the ups and downs of living with her bipolar disorder. He will candidly discuss her abusive, suicidal and irrational behavior before receiving treatment, how she achieved wellness and made it her mission to help others.
