U.S. veterans leaving can find adapting to civilian life challenging, and often expensive, especially when it comes to accommodations related to healthcare. One in every five service members experiences a traumatic brain injury, and many need mental health care.
Physical injuries may require changes to vehicles and homes. Modifying a vehicle can often be expensive but can enable a veteran to continue to have the independence of driving, while home modifications may be necessary to make a home safe and accessible.
