Plastic bags and films require special recycling

by The 100 Companies
recycling plastic bags and films

With the convenience of single-stream recycling, many people mistakenly put plastic bags, film and case wrap into their curbside cart. These items can actually slow down the recycling process by damaging machinery used to process materials. Plastic films can have a second life, being recycled into composite lumber, pallets, playground sets and even new bags. To ensure they make it into the recycling stream:

1) Remove all receipts, hangers or other materials.
2) Throw away wet bags and those with food contamination.
3) Collect bags and return them to designated collection points.
