A puppy snuggle a day keeps the doctor away! It’s true. A new study suggests spending 10 minutes with a dog can reduce pain, anxiety and depression.
According to Colleen Dell, research chair in One Health and Wellness, “There’s research showing that pets are an important part of our health in different ways. They motivate us, they get us up, give us routines, the human animal bound.”
Here’s how it worked: participants’ pain levels were measured before and after spending time in a “dog therapy ambulance” where they talked to and cuddled with pups. Afterwards, 43-48% said they felt much better.
