Prepare ahead of time. Plan time on your calendar for everything you need to do and handle before leaving and when you return.
Inform your clients, customers or vendors. If you are traveling for a week or more, it is best to send a message to individuals who might potentially reach out. Let them know you will be out of town, who to reach out to during this time and when you will be responding to communications.
