Marco Rubio has lost ground among Florida voters to Val Demings, a Democratic Orlando Congresswoman who now stands even with the senior U.S. Senator from Miami among likely voters, new polling from progressive groups show.

Numbers from Progress Florida and Florida Watch show Rubio and Demings in a dead heat, each with 45% support, with Demings holding even with Rubio despite lacking name recognition with more than a third of Florida voters.

Thirty-six percent of voters ranked Demings favorable compared to 30% unfavorable. Rubio, meanwhile, earned a 43% favorable rating among voters, with 52% of respondents ranking him unfavorable.
