When Mardi Gras was canceled during COVID-19, New Orleanians adapted, created and celebrated anyway. That story is captured in “The Parade at Home,” a visually stunning book documenting how the city kept Carnival alive.
Blending poetry, personal narratives and New Orleans history with over 150 pages of full-color photography, the book offers a neighborhood-by-neighborhood portrait of resilience. The anthology features a foreword by Big Freedia and contributions by poet laureate Gina Ferrara, Bryan Batt, Al “Carnival Time” Johnson, Rockin’ Dopsie, Tracee Dundas and more.
Awarded a Jazz & Heritage Foundation Community Partnership Grant, the book celebrates New Orleans history and resilience.
