NAMI Collier welcomes Zack McDermott, author of “Gorilla and the Bird: A Memoir of Madness and a Mother’s Love,” as keynote speaker for the Hope Shines Luncheon on Dec. 7 at Grey Oaks Country Club.
At the age of 26, McDermott woke up believing he was being filmed, “Truman Show”-style, as an audition for a TV pilot. He will share the desperate, poignant and often hilarious struggle on his journey to regain sanity.
The signature Hope Shines Luncheon raises awareness and critical funding for NAMI Collier County’s programs and services that are provided to 16,000 individuals each year.
