Appreciating lessons learned from mentors

Years ago, one of my mentors, Russell Budd, taught me how to present situations for effective decision-making in five minutes.

The essence of the process is giving a 60-second summary of the background, identifying critical factors that should be included in the decision process, then providing three options for moving forward.

It challenged me to clarify issues, and perhaps more critically, it empowered me to come up with solutions instead of being a problem-spreader.

As C2 Communications approaches its 10th anniversary, I’m eternally grateful for the mentors that helped me grow into a leader who empowers others.
