University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (IFAS) studies the agricultural, natural resource and food-industry trends as they relate to our economy.

The organization has revealed good news for Florida’s economy, with positive trends for sustainable growth, including:

• Total employment contribution of 2.29 million jobs.

• Value-added contributions of $137.23 billion (14.7 percent of Florida’s gross domestic product).

• $47.70 billion in exports to foreign countries.

• Labor-income contributions of $80.82 billion.

IFAS has developed a new method of calculation that will allow for comparisons of key economic indicators when evaluating future trends.
