Exciting news from Amazon! It has created a new AI technology that can make Alexa sound like your late grandmother.
“While AI can’t eliminate that pain of loss, it can definitely make their memories last,” said Rohit Prassad, Amazon’s head scientist for Alexa AI. The system can mimic someone’s voice using just one minute of recorded audio.
This technology was used in the documentary about Chef Anthony Bourdain who died in 2018. Some fans approved, others thought it was creepy. Prassad says it gives customers “lasting personal relationships” with lost loved ones. No word on when the feature will become available.
