Breaking news: The average American worker is tired. Two-thirds of employees don’t believe they have proper work-life balance, while half of all full-time workers reported working over 40 hours per week.

However, studies also show that we’re happiest when we feel busy. Is there any sort of happy medium? New research suggests so.

A study found that employed people were most pleased with two and a half hours of free time a day. It also reported purchases that cut out chores – ordering takeout or employing a housekeeper – positively affect happiness. Turns out, yes, you can buy happiness.
