How a donated property funded infrastructures of Golden Gate Estates for 40 years

On Nov. 15, 1983, Avatar Properties Inc. (GAC Properties, Inc.) entered into an agreement to donate 1,061.5 acres of land to Collier County.

Based on the agreement, all capital improvements are to be physically located within the geographical boundary of Golden Gate Estates, and any proceeds from the sale of these lands are to be utilized for capital projects situated in Golden Gate Estates.

Over the past 40 years, the county accomplished several infrastructure improvements through the proceeds of this agreement, including purchasing tools and equipment for Big Corkscrew Fire, Greater Naples Fire and more.
