When he’s not inspiring students in the classroom, one Hodges professor is supporting children’s charities through outdoor adventures.
After the school day ends, the breaking waves and tidal currents call professor Thomas Pear to swim to extremes. Since 2012, he has been swimming around Key West to raise awareness and funding for needy children.
Recently, Pear and his relay partner, Sarah Sawyers, completed the 13-mile course. Pear says training for events like this is like running: start small, build endurance and practice interval training.
Watch for more of Pear’s tales of adventure this fall, in the new Hodges magazine.
