Freedom is not free*

John Logan, a general in the Union army, is credited for creating Memorial Day in 1868. The purpose was to honor comrades who had died during the Civil War and since it has transitioned to remember all those who have fallen defending our country and its freedoms – including our rights to agree or disagree with our country’s policies.

By all means, participate in Memorial Day sales and barbeques, but remember the why and offer respect for those who died protecting our country. And on June 6, we commemorate the 80th anniversary of D-Day, ultimately liberating Western Europe and defeating Nazi Germany.
