Did you know that one oyster can filter up to 50 gallons of water per day? More mollusks in our waterways can reduce pollution as well as protect wildlife.

The Charlotte Harbor Environmental Center is hosting free workshops to teach residents how to make Vertical Oyster Gardens. By partnering with local restaurants to collect empty shells, the organization hopes to colonize oyster spat and increase populations in Charlotte Harbor. Once grown, the Vertical Oyster Gardens can be collected and added to existing reefs.

The next workshop is currently full, but you can request a free workshop for your community here.
