Raaga, Inc., a Southwest Florida-based Indian arts and culture organization, presents Zakir Hussain & Masters of Percussion 7:30 p.m. on Friday, April 12 at Southwest Florida Event Center.
Drumming crosses cultures and unites us in the dance of the heart. Zakir Hussain is not only an acknowledged master tabla player in the classical North Indian style, but also a student of an astonishing array of percussion traditions. The tabla is a membranophone percussion instrument, consisting of a pair of drums, used in different styles of music. It has been an important instrument in Hindustani classical music since the 18th century.
