Garden Talk: Mangolicious

August 13, 2022 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am EDT

$10 – $15

There are more than 17 varieties of mango trees throughout the Edison Ford botanical gardens that are thriving and producing fruits. Depending on the variety grown, mangoes can ripen from June through September. Ford’s home was nicknamed “The Mangoes” due to the abundance of these trees on the estate when he bought the home. Mina Edison also attached orchids to turpentine mango trees that lined a pathway on the east side of the Edison’s property, designated as “Orchid Lane.” Participants will learn about the significance of the mango trees on the site and how to care for them in a home landscape. Mango fruit will be available for purchase in the Garden Shoppe. Each attendee will receive a 20% off coupon for use on plant purchases. Advance registration is not required. Please meet at the Welcome Booth after checking in at the ticket counter. Wear sunscreen, a hat, comfortable shoes, and bring drinking water. Advance registration is not required.

Edison Ford members: $10; non-members; $15
