Frida and Her Garden celebrates Frida Kahlo (1907 – 1954), a prolific artist known for her colorful self-portraits and paintings inspired by the natural world and her home country of Mexico. This exhibition will transport Garden visitors to Kahlo’s garden at her home in Coyoacán, Mexico City. A re-creation of La Casa Azul (or the Blue House) is the centerpiece of the exhibit, showcasing Kahlo’s creative refuge and the plants that inspired her life and work. In addition to being immersed in Frida’s iconic blue house, you’ll also encounter monumental animal sculptures adorned with folk art representing important influences on Kahlo’s life and work.
Signage and interpretation will enhance your experience, as well as special opportunities during events like Frida After 5. Family-friendly activity packs will be available to lead you on a journey to explore a celebration of Mexican plants and culture throughout the Garden.
