The 25th annual Gene Doyle Fishing Tournament returns to Fall in 2023. The Tournament will be October 6-8, 2023. After 24 tournaments, 2023 will be the event’s final year. The catch and release tournament for all ages opens with a kick-off celebration on Friday, October 6, followed by fishing on Saturday and Sunday, October 7 and 8. An awards banquet on Sunday evening at the Naples Sailing and Yacht Club will also feature a raffle, silent auction, and special speakers.
“We listened to our anglers and guides and chose to move our tournament back to the fall for better fishing and hopefully the best turn-out we’ve had yet,” said this year’s tournament co-chairs Matt and Katie Betz.
“Although it is bittersweet to end this amazing tradition, we are excited to make the 25th tournament the best yet, with the most anglers and the highest amount of money raised for the Gene Doyle Adventure Scholarship.”
The tournament targets snook, redfish and trout and awards trophies in open and guided divisions for adult and youth anglers.
The tournament benefits the Gene Doyle Memorial Foundation, which awards Collier County high school juniors, seniors, and college freshmen with outdoor adventure scholarships.
2023 Adventure Scholarships were recently awarded to Chelsey Chambers, Karina Corrado, Hannah Foley, Heidi McLean, Julissa Rosas and Alina Zankevich.
