Aviation program gives wings to Collier County students

by

“Just have a passion for aviation,” says Embry-Riddle flight instructor Alan Davis. As simple as that.

Embry-Riddle Flight Academy, founded in 2011, is an elective, dual-enrollment course at Lely High School that educates 150 students annually, without cost. All students in Collier County Public Schools are welcome to learn flight skills, through simulators. Embry-Riddle has taught over 35 pilots through this program.

Davis shared that the most rewarding aspect of being an instructor is “maintaining a professional relationship with students as adults and continuing to fly with them.” Students interested in aviation are encouraged to enroll.
